GIRLS FOOTBALL INFO
We're exited to be growing girls teams and mixed teams within Yorkshire Regional Talent Centre.
The following information aims to provide the parents of any young female players the progression and development opportunities that Yorkshire RTC are able to provide.
Unfortunately the relationship between girls grass roots football leagues and the advanced JUNIOR PREMIER LEAGUE football isn’t as straight forward as it is with the boys. This is due to the majority of girls grass roots leagues taking place on Saturdays rather than Sundays. The complication is that the advanced JUNIOR PREMIER LEAGUE matches take place on Saturdays as well!

Therefore, for many girls, the decision to play in the JUNIOR PREMIER LEAGUE means that they are unable to compete in a grass roots team as well due to the conflicting match times. This is a shame Yorkshire RTC fully support all the local Sunday League Clubs as we feel that the enjoyment and the additional training and game time that playing for two teams provides is great for a players longer term development.

With the above in mind Yorkshire RTC are able to provide a number of options to enhance the progression and development of young female players depending on their individual circumstances. These are: -

For Players that would like to compete in the advanced JUNIOR PREMIER LEAGUE.

GIRLS TEAM JPL PLAYER – This option is for players who, following a trial period, are deemed to be at the Junior Premier League level of technical/tactical/physical ability. The player then trains on a Wednesday night over the summer (Thursday night from September) and will compete in the Junior Premier League in the 2024/25 season which starts in September.
GIRLS TEAM JPL SHADOW PLAYER – This option is for players who, following a trial period, are deemed not quite at technical/tactical/physical level to compete in the Junior Premier league yet but have the potential to do so in the future. The player trains on a Wednesday night through the Summer (Thursday nights from September) with the JPL Squad but doesn’t routinely play in the Junior Premier League on Saturdays.
MIXED TEAM JPL PLAYER – This option is for players who would like to compete in the Junior Premier League in a Mixed Boy & Girls team. Following a trial period, the player is deemed to be at the Junior Premier League level of technical/tactical/physical ability to play either in their own age group with the mixed team or in the age group below. The player then trains Tuesday or Wednesday nights (depending on which age group they are joining) and will compete in the Junior Premier League in a mixed team during the 2024/25 season which starts in September.
MIXED TEAM SHADOW PLAYER – This option is for Players who would like to compete in the Junior Premier League in a mixed boys & girls team. For players who do not want to play in the advanced JUNIOR PREMIER LEAGUE at the moment
